Bombadier-Navigator-Dentist
Early USAF service coat used by Capt E. D. Ebbeson.
Capt Ebbeson was a bombadier assigned to the 398th Bombardment Group in
Europe during World War II. Following the war, he became a dentist
and remained in the Air Force reserve. He was recalled to active
duty during the Korean War. It's very rare for an officer to be both
rated and a medical doctor. However, even today there are a handful
of officers in the US Air Force who serve as both rated aircrew (pilots
and navigators) and medical doctors. |
